The founders of trymehere

Chris Gare

Before thinking of the idea behind trymehere at a conference, Chris co-founded Nexagent Ltd in July 2000. Prior to this, Chris spent eight years at Cable & Wireless's Group Technology team as Vice President, Advanced Services where he seed-corn financed and championed early IP service deployment in its business units around the world. These included MPLS-based IP-VPNs, VoIP, WAP, interactive TV, wireless access, home networks and softswitch IP-PSTN integration.

Prior to joining Cable & Wireless, he spent seven years as Corporate Marketing Director with European Silicon Structures (ES2), a European start-up ASIC company. Chris also spent a number of years in the PC software industry where he was European Managing Director for Perfect Software, the first company to bundle personal productivity tools with PCs. Before this, he opened Microsoft's first European office and served as European Managing Director. The early part of his career was spent with Texas Instruments and Motorola Semiconductors where he was both a Senior Microprocessor Product manager and Microprocessor Sales Manager.  Chris has been a fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology since 1986. Tim Ellis

Tim has extensive experience in developing and executing on developing propositions, insight and go-to-market strategies in the TMT sector. Most recently, Tim has consulted on a number of industry and public sector projects as a Partner with FirstPartner, Previously, Tim has had an extensive involvement with the Enterprise mobility solutions sector, developing EMEA commercial operations and partner strategies as VP EMEA of both HillCast Technologies (Austin TX), and SmartServ Online (Stamford CT).

Prior to positions in the wireless space, Tim was MD for Active Voice Ltd, the EMEA division of Active Voice Corp (Seattle WA) a developer of Enterprise presence management applications, and an early entrant into Enterprise VoIP and Unified Messaging systems. Tim was responsible for realigning Active Voice's EMEA Channel and Partner relationships to reflect the change in market focus. Active Voice was acquired by Cisco Systems in 2001. Prior to entering the telecommunications sector, Tim held a number of positions in the semiconductor sector, both in Europe and the USA. This included 6 years with European Silicon Structures (ES2), a significant European start-up venture, serving as Corporate Director of Product Marketing.

Steve Gare

Steve runs a colocation and hosting business, Xantara, based in the UK with a colleague and also develops company web sites such as House & Garden Addresses based on the book of the same name and related to 'House & Garden' magazine and PhotoHistoric.com, a part of a collection of photographs taken by Peter Robinson during the late Sixties and early Seventies.

Steve has been an accomplished programmer since completing a 'C' course when he was 14 and has developed the trymehere web site and service based on open-software standards. Steve can be contacted on: sgare@trymehere.com
